Pawan Kalyan bounced back with the stupendous success of 'Gabbar Singh' after successive flops. Four years later, He arrives with 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' which have a similar template but Bobby replaces Harish Shankar this time. How well did the new combination work out? Has 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' met the expectations?

Synopsis:

Bhairav Singh (Sharad Kelkar), a ruthless feudal lord, makes the lives of Rattanpur villagers miserable. Arshi Devi who is from a Royal family loses her parents because of Bhairav Singh. Harinarayana, the caretaker of Arshi Devi, uses his good contacts for transferring Gabbar Singh (Pawan Kalyan) to Rattanpur to save the Princess and Locals. Initially, Gabbar Singh behaves like a happy go lucky guy. After a point, He makes up his mind to accomplish the mission he was assigned by bringing the atrocities of Bhairav Singh to a halt. Who had the upper hand in the gun battle forms the rest of the tale?

Performances:

'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' is undoubtedly Pawan Kalyan's one-man-show. He has given his 100% for every scene to entertain his fans. All of his mannerisms, dialogues, dances and fights will please his admirers big time.

Kajal Agarwal got into the skin of the Princess role. She looks drop-dead gorgeous and performs in a splendid manner.

Sharad Kelkar did manage to do justice for the villain role but Dubbing is a worry due to lack of lip-sync. Mukesh Rushi does a good job. Kabir Singh is routine. Brahmanandam keeps the audience in splits at times. None among Ali, Brahmaji, Raghu Babu and Narra Seenu were able to leave a mark of their own.

Pros:

Pawan Kalyan

Lead Pair's Chemistry

Interval

Cons:

Technicalities:

Devi Sri Prasad delivered hat-trick hits with Pawan Kalyan but that's past. 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' is the weakest film in their combination till date. Thumbs down to the Songs and even Background Score isn't great either. 'Thoba Thoba' is the only song which is good in terms of picturization. Arthur Wilson's Camera Work is outstanding, particularly during the Interval action episode. Art Work by Brahma Kadali is marvelous. Philosophical Dialogues penned by Sai Madhav Burra are awesome. Even Punchlines were impressive. Editing is so poor. Production Values are rich. Director Bobby seems to have worked as per the vision of Pawan Kalyan and hence he failed to leave a mark of his own in this commercial subject.

Analysis:

In the title cards itself, Pawan Kalyan coveys 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' is dedicated to his Fans. There is no exaggeration in the above statement and audience would get to realize it soon after stepping into the theaters. Fans will certainly enjoy the trademark mannerisms, dialogues, fights and dances done by Pawan Kalyan. For others, 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' looks pretty ordinary.

Story of 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' was revealed with the theatrical trailer itself. Irrespective of the story, Audience will enjoy a movie If the screenplay is gripping. Unfortunately, 'Sardaar' falls flat in this aspect. Pawan Kalyan entertains as hero but tests the patience of movie buffs as a writer. A run time of 2 hours 43 minutes for a subject having routine template and poor screenplay is the major drawback.

'Gabbar Singh' entertained Fans and Common Audience equally. Whereas, 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' could only please the hardcore fans of Powerstar. Pawan Kalyan's one-man-show right from his introduction, Romantic Scenes with Kajal, Couple of Songs and Extraordinary Interval Block gives a feeling that 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' is a paisa vasool entertainer by the end of First Half. However, Second Half is below par to say the least. Failure in establishing the conflict between Hero-Villain is a major setback. Pawan Kalyan has to blame himself for penning such a screenplay.

Makers revealed that 70% of the shoot was completed in the last 50-odd days. This hurriedness had a huge impact on the final outcome and hence viewers complain about the Editing. Even though the much hyped 'Sangeet' episode looks forced, Mannerisms and Dances of Pawan Kalyan thrill the Fans. Overall, 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' is a film made with the sole aim of entertaining the devotees of Powerstar.

Bottom Line: A Film by Pawan Kalyan for FANS!
