'Shatamanam..' is a 15 yrs back story
By: Tupaki Desk | 9 Feb 2017 10:23 AM GMTWhen Dil Raju announced in last December that he is going to release Shatamanam Bhavati amid the huge Sankranthi competition, many were skeptical about the fate of the film. They thought that Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna films will not give breathing space to Shatamanam Bhavati. Surprisingly Shatamanam Bhavati turned out to be a super hit. When we consider the Return On Investment, it is much bigger hit than Chiru & Balayya films.
Even though many people are attributing the success to producer Dil Raju, we can not deny director Satish Vegesna's contribution in the success of the film. Apart from the direction, his dialogues struck chord with the family audience. While speaking about the film in a recent interview, he shared interesting details. He said he has written Shatmanam story one and half decade back.
"I worked as a journalist in Eenadu. Usually News dailies will have holidays only during Dasara, Diwali & Sankranthi. Whenever these festivals were around the corner, we used to have holiday mood. But I used to feel sad on the festival day as there is no festive atmosphere. I have written a short Telugu story 'Palle Payanametu?' based on this. When my friends came to know about this story, they suggested me to develop into a script. I followed their advice and made a script. When I was working in Dil Raju banner for Ramayya Vastavayya, Subramanyam For Sale, I narrated the story to Dil Raju garu.. he was impressed with it and came forward to produce the film."
