Shahrukh Khan is known to be a global icon because of the reach of his films in the Overseas market. Aamir Khan entered the big league with 'Lagaan' and began challenging his competitors with content-rich films. Later, Salman Khan joined the race with potboilers and emotional subjects which enthralled the masses. Since then, People began assuming that the Khan Trio are ultimate money machines in Bollywood.
However, Shahrukh Khan is lagging behind Aamir & Salman in the past decade be it content wise or revenue aspect. 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' (2008) is the last movie of King Khan to move the audience emotionally. 'My Name is Khan' (2010) was liked by the international audience to some extent because of the terrorism aspect in it. Collections-wise, Fans could say 'Chennai Express' (2013) was a hit but the film isn't up to the standards set by SRK. 'Dear Zindagi' might be a successful venture but most of the credit had gone to Alia Bhatt. Films like 'Billu' (2009), 'Don 2' (2011), 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' (2012), 'Happy New Year' (2014), 'Dilwale' (2015), Fan (2016) & Raees (2017) have only ruined the trust fans have on him. Today's release 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' opened to mixed reviews and poor word of mouth. Even someone like Imtiaz Ali wasn't able to end the bad patch of the Baadshah.
Whereas, Both Aamir Khan (3 Idiots, PK, Dhoom 3, Dangal) and Salman Khan (Dabangg, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan) kept delivered blockbusters in the past decade. While Mr.Perfectionist is currently shooting for 'Thugs of Hindostan', Sallu Bhai is working for 'Tiger Zinda Hai'. On the other hand, SRK have an experimental subject 'Dwarf' in the pipeline. It's high time King Khan introspects his choice of subjects to retain the title 'Baadshah', else he will be in serious trouble.
