These things trammel Mahanubhavudu!

Mahanubhavudu starring Sharwanand and Mehreen Prizada Kaur, released yesterday. The movie got a positive feedback from audiences and as it offers better content than the two biggies, Jai Lava Kusa and Spyder, it is collecting some good money too. But in a good entertainer there are few things trammel the movie and make us feel a tinge of disconnect with the character of the protagonist.

When a person is suffering from OCD, he or she normally are socially awkward and not all the time cheerful like Sharwanand in this movie. They suffer with anxiety and the level OCD, Sharwanand displays is a highly serious one and in his case, anxiety will be very high. That detail has been missing. Post that, there is also a problem with how few scenes have been handled. A person with OCD cannot look beyond their issue as it is highly unlikely for them to contemplate a world where they are prone to something they hate dearly.

So, even though Sharwanand not being able to accept a bite from his mother's hand due to her illness, not bringing that up to play as an important thread and just bringing it in the end makes it forced and illogical. Also, due to the same reason, even the scene where hero is unable to snap out of his fears when blood is on his clothes, even though a person he respects is in critical condition, feels highly fake. The climax where he fights a body builder and wins, is commercially paying but impact is missing due to superficial treatment. If the makers had taken care of such things, the movie would have been better than Bhale Bhale Mogadivoy, even though it tried to ape the same pattern.
