When a writer is asked to come up with a story or a script or an add film, they are asked to take inspirations from real life or adapt from popular films, books or even short films.
Some short films might introduce a big idea in less screen time with no goal to entertain. When it becomes popular, the same team or someone who likes it, can turn it to a full feature length film, with all ingredients added to it.
Whiplash, Oscar winning film was first made as a short film with one scene from the script as the story. When the film got good attention and sizeable crowd wanted to help director, make it as a film, he did get greenlight from a producer and rest is history.
In Telugu Cinema, short film directors are becoming feature length film directors like Sujith, who made Saaho but not many short films are adapted on screen.
Sharwand is taking that plunge with Srikaaram. Young director Kishore made a short film and he showed it to 14 Reels for a chance. They gave him the idea to adapt short film as full length script and Sharwanand came on board!
