Latest Tollywood hit 'Mahanati' movie has several real-life characters and veteran director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao character is one of them. Tharun Bhascker of 'Pelli Choopulu' fame has played Singeetam role. Very few people know that Singeetam started his career as an assistant director to legendary director KV Reddy for the Telugu classic 'Mayabazaar'.
Savitri is the heroine of 'Mayabazaar'. 'Mahanati' has a scene where Savitri had to shed tears from one of her eyes. Singeetam had to arrange glycerine for Savitri but he couldn't arrange it in time. Savitri pulled it off that scene without glycerine with her impeccable acting skills. It is one of the memorable scenes from 'Mahanati'.
Though Singeetam worked with 'Savitri', he didn't take a picture with her. But he posed with the reel Savitri Keerthy Suresh recently shared the picture through the social media. He captioned it "Lots of people are asking whether I have a photo with Savitri garu. At that time, no. But now, YES"
