Bapu, the world class artiste and India's one of the finest film directors, passed away this evening. I was associated as a singer, music director for almost 90% of his creations. Actually my first song recording happened on his birthday (December 15th), which I always cherish. He was crestfallen when his soul-mate Mullapoodu Ramana passed away almost 2 years back. I should say that he never recovered from that loss.
I was one of the few, whom he allowed to see him off and on. My last visit was after I returned from US in July. I sang some of his favourite songs at that time. He was a die-hard fan of Janab Mehdi Hassan and his Gazals. I was preparing to leave the venue of my concert today when I got this shocking news. I cannot cancel this public show at this juncture. I want you all to pray for Bapu's peace and if I wont be in my elements today in the concert, forgive me friends, mother Telugu lost a limb and the Telugu Alphabets wont be same after the great sculptor's demise.
Bapuji - I am Lost.
Without you - The entire Telugu fraternity misses you.
The only consolation is - you met your soulmate Ramana and your better-half (Rather other half) in Almighty's abode.
