Who is behind Guru success?

Director Sudha Kongara caught everyone's attention with 'Guru' which opened to superb word-of-mouth on this Friday. This Wrestling-backdrop flick collected a share of around Rs 2.5 crore on Day 1. This is pretty good when the genre and budget were taken into consideration. Overall, 'Guru' is expected to collected close to Rs 15 crore (Share) in the long run.
Not many knew that Sudha Kongara hails from Visakhapatnam and she is a close relative of veteran actor Jaggayya. For several years, She worked in the director department of Mani Ratnam as Assistant Director. 'Andhra Andagadu' starring Krishna Bhagwan and Suman Shetty marked her directorial debut in Telugu. Later, She even directed Tamil flick 'Drohi'. None of these films fetched her good recognition.
Finally, Sudha Kongara prepared the script of 'Guru' taking inputs from 250 people which include professional boxers, coaches and members of boxing association. She convinced Madhavan with her script and made film with the title 'Irudu Suttru/Saala Khadoos' in Tamil & Hindi simultaneously. And now, She has even done its remake 'Guru' which earned critical acclaim and box office success.
