Superstar Mahesh Babu's 'Sarkaru Vaari Paata' is in theatres right now. The Mahesh mania has not just gripped the Telugu states but also in the overseas market which is considered one of the superstar's biggest strengths. Irrespective of the result in India, his films performed extremely well in the US market which explains a lot about his craze.
It was his 'Athadu' back in 2005 which opened the doors of the overseas market for Telugu films and he was the first hero to get one million collections. He was the emperor of the overseas arena before 'Baahubali' franchise came into the picture. Keeping the recent Rajamouli films aside, Mahesh is still considered the biggest hero in the US market and people show a lot of interest in films whenever they hit the screens. As we said before, the advance bookings of 'SVP' have been phenomenal.
The trade pundits have revealed that 'Sarkaru Vaari Paata' has created a non-RRR record in the US market through its premiers. Apparently, the Mahesh Babu starrer has collected a whopping $925k from the premiere shows itself. This is the highest for any Telugu film barring Rajamouli's 'RRR' which got $5.5 million. As we know, 'RRR' was released in multiple languages as it is a pan-Indian movie.
'Sarkaru Vaari Paata' is an out-and-out Telugu film which released in 477 locations and grossed $925k through its premieres on Wednesday. Collections from a few areas are yet to be announced as per sources and there is a chance that it might cross $1 million too. 'Spyder' registered the highest collection through its premieres in Mahesh's career. But no film managed to cross a million apart from Rajamouli's magnum opus.
The collections are wonderful for 'Sarkaru Vaari Paata' and fans are having a treat watching Mahesh in such an energetic avatar. With an extended weekend, the movie is expected to break the existing records and create a few new ones. But the movie is getting some mixed responses from critics and regular audiences which may work against its box office prospects. Let us wait and see what happens in the coming days.
