These days, A lot of 'Short Film Contests' has been conducted and the main objective behind them is said to be encouraging young talent. Even Heroes & Filmmakers are announcing such kind of contests in the recent past. Especially, This is the current trend in Kollywood circuit.
Some time ago, Soundarya Rajinikanth has come up with a Youtube channel to give a platform for Short Film makers. Director Karthik Subbaraj of 'Pizza' fame too promised to release the best Short Films he receives in the theaters. Dhanush held similar contest using an App but no one knows what happened to it. Now, Tamil star Suriya has come into the scene with a similar contest and announced cash prize.
Why does Star Heroes & Filmmakers conduct these Short Film Contests? Are they really keen to encourage Young Talent? Actually, Such Contests are an attempt to pick up some fascinating stories for their upcoming films. One shouldn't doubt the sincerity of any of of above mentioned popular public figures. At the same time, Young Filmmakers need to be aware of how they may get cheated if their product reaches Wrong People. So, Be sure about with whom they are sharing their ideas!
