Telugu Desam Party (TDP) legislators from Seemandhra Saturday gave a privilege notice to the Andhra Pradesh assembly speaker against Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh.

The lawmakers from Seemandhra (Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra) submitted the notice to Speaker Nadendla Manohar, alleging that the Congress leader committed breach of privilege through his remarks.

TDP leader G. Muddukrishnama Naidu took exception to Digvijaya Singh's statement that Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the assembly would meet Monday and that there would be no voting in the house on Telangana bill.

"Who is Digvijaya Singh to say this. It comes under breach of privilege," he told reporters after giving notice to the speaker.

The Congress leader had told a press conference here Friday that BAC would meet Monday to take a decision about the debate on Telangana bill. The TDP also wanted to know in what capacity the Congress general secretary met state Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan.

The opposition party also criticized state Congress chief Botsa Satyanarayana for hosting lunch in honor of Digvijaya Singh, saying he had come to divide the state.

A TDP worker Friday also filed a complaint at Banjara Hills police station here against Digvijaya Singh for travelling in a vehicle with a red beacon in violation of the Supreme Court order. Police said they had not registered a case and were looking into the complaint.

Digvijaya Singh was in Hyderabad on Thursday and Friday to meet Congress leaders from Telangana and Seemandhra to ensure smooth debate on Telangana bill in the assembly.
