Sai Dharam Tej attempted an out-&-out love story for the first time in his career after repeated flops. He teamed up with Karunakar who have a decent success rate in this genre. Will 'Tej - I Love You' ends the flop streak of Mega Hero?

Synopsis:

Tej (Sai Dharam Tej) loses his Parents in Childhood & serves 7 years jail sentence inspite of doing nothing wrong. He operates a Music Band while studying in the college. That's when Nandini (Anupama) who comes to Vizag from London meets him. Love Blossoms between the two but Nandini forgets her past after an accident and starts treating Tej like a stranger. What has Tej done then? Has Nandini recollected her memory & did she accept Tej as her lover?

Performances:

Sai Dharan Tej tried his best to make this movie look as different as possible from his previous projects. A conscious attempt has been made not to give action part much importance. Overall, He did a pretty decent job. Tej should take care of his looks though.

Anupama Parameswaran is very impressive. Her role have more prominence than that of Tej. Youth will connect with her character which have scope for performance.

Jayaprakash, Anish Kuruvilla and Pavithra Lokesh have been fine. Viva Harsha didn't get much scope to tickle the funny bone.

Pros:

Anupama

Climax

Cons:

Love Story

Direction

Technicalities:

Music by Gopi Sundar is okay but the feel-good-factor required for a Love Story is missing. Couple of songs are good enough. Background Score should have been better. Camera Work by Andrew is decent. Nothing special about dialogues penned by Darling Swamy. Production Values are fine. Karunakaran disappoints as a writer & director. 'Tej - I Love You' seems to be a remix version of his previous films. It gives an impression that he got outdated as a Filmmaker.

Analysis:

Karunakaran is known for films such as 'Tholi Prema', 'Ullasamga Utsahamga' and 'Darling'. Those elements which worked wonderfully in those films test the patience of viewers while watching 'Tej - I Love You'. Be it Love Story or Comedy or Family Emotions, They remind previous movies of Karunakaran to the audience. The kind of feel people had while viewing those super hits gone missing in the new outing.

Tastes of audience keep changing from time to time. Directors will be termed as outdated if they don't adopt themselves to the changing trends. That's what happened in the case of Karunakaran. Someone who is known for Love Stories haven't been able to deliver hits in the same genre.

Logic goes for a toss in the crucial Memory Loss Episode. This element could have been included to generate drama but it got back fired due to artificiality. Even few other episodes in 'Tej - I Love You' doesn't appear natural. You don't get to experience the feel in the Love Story.

In the previous films of Karunakaran, Crackling chemistry of the Lead Pair used to be major highlight. Unfortunately, Chemistry between Hero-Heroine is completely missing in this movie. Karunakaran didn't even succeed in generating ample comedy. Lack of freshness in the Family Episode works against the movie. The only positive could be a bit of Sentiment & Feel generated in the Climax. Overall, 'Tej - I Love You' isn't up to the mark.

Bottom Line: Love Story Without Feel!
