The lockdown imposed to contain the novel Coronavirus pandemic has forced the producers and makers to go for the OTT release. With no clarity on whether the theatres will be reopened or not, makers saw OTT as a good alternative. OTT platforms saw a big jump in their subscribers' count and business.

Though lockdown restrictions are not harsh compared to the first wave, there is no update on theatres reopening. While Telangana gave its nod for 100 percent occupancy, Andhra Pradesh announced that theatres can resume operations with 50 percent occupancy.

Amid this, the Telangana film chamber of commerce is trying its level best for the betterment of Tollywood by urging the producers to not give their projects to the OTT platforms. The body asked the makers to wait till the 30th of October regarding the release.

For the same reason, the Telangana film chamber of commerce held a press meet on Wednesday demanding that no films should be released till October 30, and post that date too, the decision should be taken based on the prevailing situations.

The Chamber urged the producers to follow the request for the betterment of the entire Tollywood. Saying that the theater owners have been going through a tough phase and opting for OTT will increase their difficulties, the representatives had urged the producers in this regard.

At the press briefing, the representatives urged the producers to save the theatres by holding placards that had the message ‘Save theatres which are getting endangered’ written in Telugu.
