Telugu Audiences Encouraging New Talent
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 July 2021 9:22 PM ISTTollywood is slowly but surely altering it course when it comes to content production. Gone are the days when every film used to follow the tried and tested template of 5-fights and 6-songs. We are getting to see more content-driven films in Telugu film industry now. All of this is a result of the change in mindset of Telugu audiences.
Telugu audiences have started encouraging new talent and that has in turn resulted in a paradigm shift. The fact that Vijay Deverakonda, an actor with no filmy background attained superstar status proves that Telugu audiences are ready to encourage new talent if they come with the right content.
There are hoards of up and coming Telugu actors in the industry now. For instance, we have the likes of Vishwak Sen, Kiran Abbavaram, Naveen Polishetty, Sai Sushanth and others who are busy with a handful of projects. This is made possible only because our native cine-goers are valuing good stories above star cast and making values. This is a very encouraging sign.
The good thing about this paradigm shift is that these young actors are nurturing budding filmmakers who are coming up with fresh ideas and winning story lines. The market of low and medium budget films has inclined multifold over the past few years and consequently, more and more filmmakers are coming up with original and fresh ideas.
Films like Jathi Rathnalu, Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya, Arjun Reddy, and others which were made on modest budgets went on to fetch upto Tej times their investment and this clearly implies that original content is being lapped up by native audiences.
Let us hope young and upcoming actors and directors make the most of the golden opportunities they are provided with and roll out more fresh and organic content.
