Trade Talk: September Box Office Report!

Trade reports about Telugu films that released in September haven't been that encouraging. Saaho released exactly on 30th August and Telugu film trade gave it two weeks to recover most of the amounts distributors spent on it.

It could recover close to 65% in Telugu states but the losses are pretty heavy as the pre-release business was done at record prices looking at Baahubali success.

After such disastrous start, Nani's Gangleader looked like a comeback for TFI but after the weekend it fell flat on its face. Movie recovered less than 70% and it is a flop for Nani and Vikram Kumar combination. Mythri Movie Makers producers of the film, after three big blockbusters, especially after Rangasthalam, failed to register a clean hit, till date.

Gaddalakonda Ganesh (Previously Valmiki) released on 20th September with a good buzz propelled by remix of Vellovocchi Godaramma song, Sridevi-Sobhan Babu classic from 1982, Devatha.

Movie is closing to break even mark while it was expected to be a big hit, trade is shocked looking at its struggle to reach the break even mark.

Extreme weather changes and Incessant rains in Telangana, Rayalaseema could have resulted in this situation but the movie has Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy threat from 2nd October.

Bandobast for Suriya ended up as an another disaster. All other small and medium budget films ended up as first day flops this month. In total, except for Gaddalakonda Ganesh, no movie is even able to earn amounts that can be placed as decent, over the month.

Saaho did collect big amounts but it did because of no strong opposition and holidays during first weekend. It ended up as a loss venture for all parties than a profitable one.

Now it is over to October with Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, Chankya, Raju Gari Gadhi-3 and Venky Mama (scheduled earlier) releases aiming at festival weekends of Dasara and Diwali.
