In the present situation, it is better to release the films directly on OTT platforms rather than theatres. This is a safe way for producers to make some money but sources say that our heroes are standing in between them. Small and medium level films can be streamed directly on OTT platforms than waiting for months together. Steaming sites like Prime Video, Zee5 and others have started negotiations and are offering good amounts. But some producers are not able to say yes because of the heroes and some directors.
Usually, a hero and a director are emotionally attached to the film. Their future depends on the film. They get a lot of recognition and fame when the film hits the screens and collects big. Their remunerations also will be increased. There is a chance of their craze going down if the film releases in OTT. Currently, creating records or printing posters about their huge collections became a trend. This used to be limited to star hero films but it spread to normal films too. All the records are possible if the film releases in theatres but releasing films in OTT platforms denies them this opportunity.
But the situation of a producer is quite different. If he ignores the offers from OTT platforms now, they may face problems with them tomorrow. They may not get huge profits by selling their films to streaming networks but they can avoid losses. They will not be interested in facing losses. So, heroes and directors need to keep the producers and their hardships in mind before forcing them to wait for theatrical release.
