Tollywood Swallows A Bitter Pill This Weekend!

While the month of August started on a wonderful note with super successful films like 'Bimbisara', 'Sita Ramam' and 'Karthikeya 2' for Tollywood, the positive energy gradually fizzled out towards the end. 'Liger' which came out with tremendous expectations is on its way to become the biggest disaster in Vijay Deverakonda's career. Even Vikram's 'Cobra' disappointed the audience. The bad run continued in September too as the weekend's releases turned out to be quite unimpressive.

While biggies like Megastar Chiranjeevi are suggesting the filmmakers to focus on the content more than anything, the youngsters are now showing most of their creativity in promotions. This is leading to low-quality films hitting the screens and turning out to be disasters.

Panjaa Vaisshnav Tej's 'Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga' came out on 2nd September amidst decent expectations but the movie is being criticised heavily for its mediocre content which was seen in a lot of films before. The makers had nothing new to offer and one wonders how a young hero like Vaisshnav who knows the current trend selects such a lame subject.

On the other hand, 'First Day First Show' which was promoted on the name of 'Jathiratnalu' fame Anudeep too ended up as a huge failure. The silly plot and bad direction tested the patience of the audience. Anudeep who penned the story needs to understand that the audience will not accept such logicless scripts all the time and 'Jathiratnalu' is a film that worked mainly because of the brilliance of its lead actors Naveen Polishetty, Rahul Ramakrishna and Priyadarshi.

Tollywood needs to swallow this bitter pill and follow it up with better content in the coming weeks.
