Usually, Tollywood Heroes experiment once in a while for a change. In contrast, Nara Rohit who generally prefers unconventional subjects tried a film in commercial format and that's how 'Tuntari' materialized. This is an official remake of Tamil hit 'Mann Karate' and the story was penned by AR Murugadoss. Kumar Nagendra of 'Gundello Godari' fame choose this subject for the much-needed success. Did Nara Rohit & Kumar Nagendra made a right move?

Synopsis:

Raju (Nara Rohit), a care-free youth in Vizag, was approached by five software professionals who lost their jobs with a lucrative offer. One Lakh per Month will be paid to Raju if he becomes a professional boxer. Even Siri (Raju's Soulmate) starts liking him as he is a boxer. But, The trouble comes in the form of Killer Raju (Kabir Singh) whom Raju has to defeat in the boxing ring to win the title. Why the Five Techies choose no one other than Raju for their Mission? Did their game plan work? Know the rest of the story in theaters near you!

Performances:

Nara Rohit is a revelation in 'Tuntari'. His characterization and performance is completely contrast to what he has done so far. He entertains with his comic timing and maintained a carefree body language for most of the time. In the Pre Climax and Climax portions, He is equally good in the getting emotions right.

Latha Hedge is just alright. She failed to leave a strong impact, be it with glamour or acting prowess. Kabir Singh is impressive as an antagonist. Vennela Kishore and Shakalaka Shankar were hilarious.

Pros:

Nara Rohit

First Half

Comedy

Cons:

Songs

Screenplay

Technicalities:

Sai Karthik does a decent job as a Composer. Although only 'Diamond Girl' is good in the album, Background Score in the Climax is appreciable. Camera Work by Palani Kumar is nice, especially the boxing match sequence. Dialogues were nice. Story provided by AR Murugaodoss is quite good. Kumar Nagendra tried to increase the humor in Telugu version, though its a serious subject. More focus on Comedy & Commercial Elements affected the Screenplay to some extent. On a whole, Kumar Nagendra was able to deliver pretty average flick.

Analysis:

'Tuntari' will be entertaining and engaging to some extent if logic wasn't bothered. The Fantasy angle in the movie is a surprise element for those who thronged theaters believing that its just a commercial entertainer.

Although story provided by AR Murugadoss is good, Failing to maintain a serious tone even when it matters the most proved costly. More than the Boxing Competition, The humor in the movie entertained the viewers. Major drawback in 'Tuntari' is songs which act like a speed breakers to the proceedings. Even though the run time is just around 2 hours, There are five songs in the movie and that's a reason to worry. Particularly, The two songs in Second Half are strictly unwanted.

The First Half of 'Tuntari' is engaging with Fantasy element and good humor. Lack of chemistry between the Lead Pair and the ineffective Love Track are the spoilers. Nara Rohit's never-seen-before comic angle and the humor in the combination of Vennela Kishore & Shakalaka Shankar worked big time. Twist in the Interval is shocking and one expect the film to shift to a serious mode from there but it happens only in the last half-an-hour.

Lack of emotional connect is the major setback of 'Tuntari'. Nara Rohit tries his best to salvage the film with his performance in the Climax block. Overall, 'Tuntari' has its moments but they mayn't be enough to score success.

Bottom Line:
Time-Pass Fare!
