UPA government has no right to rule: BJP
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 May 2013 10:38 AM GMTThe Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said Monday the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government has lost the right to rule and should quit office to face elections.
"This government has lost its right to rule the country, they should all resign and move towards election," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed its second affidavit on the interference of Law Minister Ashwani Kumar in the report on the allocation of coal blocks.
"The only issue to be discussed now is that which ministry under government does not have a scam. Even the ministry under prime minister has been involved in corruption," he alleged.
Party leader Prakash Javadekar said the law minister should resign immediately, adding that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should take responsibility.
"If they have any shame at all, the law minister and prime minister (Manmohan Singh) should resign. For the sake of democracy and justice they should immediately resign. There is no doubt in it that they altered the report," he said.
"They deleted portions from the report. Now even when everything is open, they are saying he (Ashwani Kumar) will not resign till the Supreme Court decision comes. He should resign immediately but the Congress will not do anything unless they are forced to," Javadekar said.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) told the Supreme Court in an affidavit Monday that changes were made at the instance of Law Minister Ashwani Kumar in its draft report on its probe into the allocation of coal blocks.
