'Uppena' Opens The Overseas Gates Again!

One cannot explain the damage, Corona lockdown caused to the film industry. The theatres were forced to shut down for more than 8 months and it incurred in huge losses. Though they opened in October again, they were only allowed to run with 50% occupancy. It may be long before the films get revenues like earlier.
The collections across the Telugu states are quite encouraging ever since the theatres reopened but the overseas market took a huge beating. From the level of earning millions in a weekend, the overseas areas are not able to get one-tenth of what they used to bring before.
Sai Tej's 'Solo Brathuke So Better' managed to get only 23K dollars in the US market. Ravi Teja's 'Krack' which was Sankranti's winner this year only grabbed 1.3 lakh dollars. Previously, such good hits would've earned millions of dollars. But Vaisshnav Tej's recent release 'Uppena' breathed life into the market.
Despite being the debut film of hero, heroine and the director, the film had a big release in the US market and the rural love story collected 1.2 lakh dollars within two days. The pundits are expecting the film to mint nearly 3 lakh dollars by the end of its run. Considering the position right now and the scale of this film, this a huge number and if Tollywood manages to produce more such good content, there is a huge chance of the overseas market picking up drastically by summer.
