Some films bring good name & respect to filmmakers even though they may not register huge collections at the box office. Similarly 'Oopiri' didn't perform as expected at the box office, but Nagarjuna performance.. Vamsi Paidipally direction received very good appreciation. Evcen though it is an official remake of a French film, audience never felt it like a remake Vamsy made it like a straight Telugu film with native touch.
Vamsi Paidipally received best director award for 'Oopiri' and it is his first Filmfare award. Vamsi told that it is a memorable moment to receive Filmfare award, becuase he stood in the queue for the passes of Filmfare award function few years back. He said "Oopiri is very close to my heart. It has increased the responsibility as a filmmaker. It has brought me so much respect. I was touched by some calls.. messages after the release of the film".
He added that "You'll not find happiness in people who are so much successful in life. They will be finding happiness somewhere else. They will not recognize that happiness is within us. I got to know this with 'Oopiri'. I could see the life in new perspective". On the other hand, Vamsi is presently busy with the pre-production of Mahesh Babu film.
