Hero's Daughter breaks silence on Sexual Harassment

Varalakshmi Sarathkumar spoke out about the Sexual Harassment she faced while reacting on the abduction and molestation of Bhavana. Saying that women safety has become a joke, She demanded death penalty for the accused in Bhavana molestation case.
In the statement she released Today, Varalakshmi revealed: "I was in a meeting with a programming head of a leading TV Channel. Towards the end of a half hour meeting, He asked me 'So...When can we meet outside?' to which I replied 'regarding some other work?'. His answer 'no, no! Not work…For other things. I told him 'Sorry! Please Leave. 'So...That's all?' were his last words on the topic. He smiled and walked away''.
'I don't come to the Industry to be treated like a piece of meat or follow the standards of exploitation of women already practiced. I love acting. Its my profession of choice. It doesn't mean that just because I lead a glamorous life on screen, that I deserve to be spoken with disrespect. It's my life my body and my wish. Instead of lecturing women on what to wear, how to speak and how to behave appropriately, how about we start by telling men to stop thinking with their genitals and start looking at a woman as strong, free, capable and equal human being. The incidents of rape, molestation, manhandling and disrespect to women are rising at alarming rates. If we don't act now #SafetyForWomen will be just a dream and we will never remove the word #rape from our society. I willn't stay silent. I urge all my sisters and friends to do the same.
