How can one write and other direct?

The actor is demand and a star, Vijay Devarakonda made some crucial observations recently in an interview. Normally, movies have writers who come up with the complete nuanced script and then, director starts pitching in his ideas to change it how he feels it is fitting and then we get to see the film on the celluloid.

Hollywood follows this method and even Bollywood is known to be following this. In Telugu, that has started changing with the entry of Ram Gopal Verma and once the directors like Puri Jagannadh, Srinu Vaitla, Trivikram Srinivas have taken over the reins from yesteryear directors like Kondandarami Reddy, K Raghavendra Rao, Kodi Ramakrishna, the system as completed changed. Writers have started directing their own stories.

Now, Vijay Devarakonda says he feels more comfortable to act in a director's film that is written by him. He said, " I don't understand how a person can tell the story that is written by someone else. I think that will change the essence of the story and they will try to make it more a package and that frightens me. It is ok if you give your script to someone to develop little bit more but if they decide to direct to it, I can't cope with that." Well, with changing times, the writer-directors might have to increase their presence may be if actors have opinions like this.
