Vijay's Mersal breaches 100 crores club!

Actor Vijay is revered as IlayaThalapathy in Tamil Cinema. IlayaThalapathy means a the leader of the masses. In Mersal, one of the three characters name is also Thalapathy. Well, he has gone through tough times before he did Thuppakki with A.R. Murugadoss. The movie changed his image as the hero of all classes. Before that he used to be regarded as only a mass hero while Thala Ajith, a class hero.
Both of them are growing in popularity year after year and the collections of their films are proving it. Before Mersal, Thala Ajith's Vivegam released for Vinayakar Chathurthi and collected a gross of 150 crores, Worldwide. Mersal, on first day itself collected gross more than 23 crores crossing even Thalaivar Rajnikanth's film, Kabali's opening in Tamil Nadu state, 21 crores.
Now, Mersal has grossed 100 crores in four days and the movie got maximum publicity as Vijay talked about GST in the film. BJP leaders fought until, the team cut out some of the dialogues and even though doctors started a hate campaign by spreading torrent links, still movie is collecting big for Diwali weekend. Before this, Bairavaa, Theri, Kaththi, Thuppakki also collected 100 crores gross for Thalapathy. This is Atlee's second film with Vijay and 100 crores seems to have become new normal collections for star heroes as even Mahesh Babu's film Spyder, which is said to be a disaster collected 100 crores gross Worldwide with Telugu and Tamil versions, combined.
