Theri is an interesting film that has come in the combination of llayathalapathy Vijay and the director Atlee Kumar. The combination is back again now with yet another interesting film Mersal. The movie is releasing tomorrow as a Diwali special. The film is releasing as Adirindhi in Telugu.
The pre-release business of Mersal is stunning. The buzz is that the film's pre-release business is around 155+ crore rupees. The theatrical rights were sold for 70 crore rupees in Tamil and the Telugu rights were sold for 5 crore rupees. The Malayalam and Kannada rights were sold At 12 crores. The overseas rights come across 26 crore rupees. On a whole, the theatrical rights come together to form a gigantic amount of 112+ crore rupees.
All the other rights contributed some 45 crore rupees that include the satellite, audio and others. On a whole, the worldwide gross of the film in Telugu and Tamil should be 200 crore rupees for the film to save the distributors. But the film unit is confident that the film will do well. Vivegam that released recently ended as a flop but scored well at the box office.
