Noted Actress & Director Vijaya Nirmala (73) passed away on Wednesday midnight while undergoing treatment at the Continental Hospital in Gachibowli. She has been suffering from health issues since sometime.
Vijaya Nirmala was born on February 20th in 1946. Her Family got settled in Tamil Nadu inspite of being Telugus. She made her debut as Child Artiste at the age of 7. Launch in TFI happened with 'Panduranga Mahatyam' at the age of eleven. She got introduced as an Actress with 'Rangula Ratnam' and never looked back thereafter. Around 200 films has been acted by her in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
In 1971, Vijaya Nirmala began her journey as Director with 'Meena'. Krishna-starrer 'Neramu-Siksha' (2009) was her last movie as a Director. She holds Guinness Book Record for directing most number of feature films (44) being a Female Director.
Vijaya Nirmala married Krishna after separation with First Husband Krishna Murthy. Naresh is her Son from previous marriage.
Original name of this Popular Actress-cum-Director is Nirmala. As a mark of respect to Vijaya Production House which offered her the first opportunity, She changed her name to Vijaya Nirmala.
