Warning Signals For Remakes In Tollywood!

With the OTT platforms becoming popular all over the country, people are getting exposed to content from various languages and they are watching good films with the help of subtitles. This led to a huge downfall in the market for remakes. With people already watching the original versions, they are not keen on viewing the remakes and they start comparing them with the originals which will not benefit the filmmakers at all.

A lot of remakes in Tollywood have failed in recent times despite getting a positive talk. 'Bheemla Nayak' which arrived as the remake of the Malayalam project 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum' got positive talk right from the first shows. Being a Pawan Kalyan film, it got huge openings but the collections dried up from the second day itself and the makers were forced to be content with average collections for a star hero project.

On the eve of Dasara, Megastar Chiranjeevi arrived with 'Godfather' which is a remake of the Malayalam flick 'Lucifer'. The makers made some necessary changes to suit the local nativity and the movie garnered a positive response on Day 1 too. The movie's unit held success celebrations too but the collections were definitely not up to the mark. In the end, the movie ended up with minor losses according to trade pundits.

Another remake that met with the same result is Vishwak Sen's 'Ori Devuda'. This remake of the Tamil movie 'Oh My Kaduvule' has impressed the audience big time. The feel-good factor, emotions, love and everything were there in this movie but the collections are not that encouraging as per sources. Dubbing films like 'Kantara' and 'Sardar' are getting more money than this remake. Seems like the idea of remakes is slowly getting expired.
