What happened to Telugu Version of VIP 2?

'Raghuvaran B.Tech' is the first hit of Dhanush in Telugu. So, The Skinny Actor quoted a price of Rs 12 crore for the theatrical rights of the Telugu version. Distributors who were keen to acquire the rights stepped back after coming to know about the fancy price. Why because, They have to sell the movie for at least Rs 16 crore to be in the safe zone and Dhanush doesn't have such a big market here.
In addition, Buyers weren't happy with the title 'VIP 2'. They believe people in rural areas won't be able to know it's a sequel for 'Raghuvaran B.Tech' if released with such a title. They suggested the titles 'Raghuvaran B.Tech 2' or 'Raghuvaran M.Tech'. However, Dhanush is adamant on 'VIP 2' as he wishes to make it a franchise.
Tamil version of 'VIP 2' released last week. Though Reviews weren't encouraging and the film might appeal for only Dhanush Fans, Opening Weekend Collections have been good but it's fate hangs in balance for now. So, Telugu Buyers are a bit hesitant and Producer decided to release this version on his own on August 25th.
