What Is The Purpose Of Bringing Salman Onboard?

No hero says 'No' when they are asked to do a special cameo in Megastar Chiranjeev"s movie. Even Pawan Kalyan will be willing to do a 5-minute cameo appearance. But the team of 'Godfather' decided to go for a Bollywood superstar like Salman Khan. This was a huge surprise for everyone.
The team would have thought that Salman's inclusion will help the film excel in the North market. As we know, Chiru's image is enough to attract the audience in Telugu and Salman is expected to draw the crowds in the North. But the collections from Hindi-speaking areas proved that Salman's cameo did not help at all.
Not just the critics but the audience too felt that Salman's appearance is a minus for the movie. The local crowd felt that the impact would have been huge if it was done by a star like Pawan or Mahesh. Also, it has been made clear through collections that Salman had zero effect on the North audience. The movie ended up collecting a mere 6-7 crores.
Not just fights but the makers even shot a song with Salman Khan expecting that his presence would bring at least 20-25 crores. But his cameo served no purpose in Hindi as well as Telugu. But the movie managed to get good amounts in terms of digital and satellite rights in Hindi. Looks like the Salman factor worked in this area.
Netflix reportedly bought the digital streaming rights for this film. Nayanthara and Satyadev did major roles while Puri Jagannadh, Samuthirakani, Murali Sharma, Sunil and others played key parts in 'Godfather'. Mohan Raja directed the movie while RB Choudary and NV Prasad are the producers. Nirav Shah is the cinematographer while Suresh Selvarajan is the art director. Thaman is the music composer.
