What Went Wrong With 'Thank You'?

Akkineni Naga Chaitanya has been enjoying a rich vein in form until 'Thank You' destroyed it. Directed by the most trusted Vikram K Kumar, this romantic entertainer did not reach the expectations and was pretty disappointing considering the fact there are big names like Chaitanya, Vikram Kumar, PC Sreeram, Dil Raju, Thaman and others are involved.
The film turned out to be the weakest film in Chaitanya's filmography and reportedly got very low openings. As we know, Naga Chaitanya's 'Love Story' released soon after the second wave of Coronavirus while his last movie 'Bangarraju' released in the midst of the third wave. Despite that, both these hit films had better openings and ended up in good profits.
But it is not the situation with 'Thank You'. The movie did not generate a lot of buzz right from the beginning. Despite a few promotions on a regular basis, there was never an excitement about this project amongst the audience. The multiple postponements of release may have been an issue but many are pointing out on the similarities it shares with Chaitanya's own 'Premam' movie. Also, the second half was not well received by the audience due to its snail pace and lack of magical moments that you usually associate with Vikram Kumar movies. While the film is sold for minimum rates, we need to see whether the money gets recovered or not.
Raashi Khanna, Malavika Nair and Avika Gor are the heroines in this film while Sai Sushanth Reddy plays a vital role. The story of 'Thank You' has been given by BVS Ravi while Thaman composed the music. PC Sreeram is the director of photography while Naga Chaitanya will be seen in different looks throughout the course of this film.
