Who Inspired Shankar To Create Pakshi Raju?
By: Tupaki Desk | 29 Nov 2018 4:01 PM GMTOne Role which is very unique & will last in the memory of people who had watched '2.O' forever is the 'Pakshi Raju' essayed by Akshay Kumar. Particularly, The flashback episode in the sci-fi thriller is heart-touching.
Shankar & Writer Jayamohan took inspiration from Salim Moizuddin Abdul Ali who is known to be 'Birdman Of India' for creating the 'Pakshi Raju' character. This Man was an Indian Ornithologist & Naturalist. He was one of the first to conduct systematic bird surveys across India & penned many bird books. Salim Ali was instrumental in setting up the Bombay Natural History Society & Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. He was a recipient of Padma Bhushan (1958) and Padma Vibhushan (1976). India's Birdman breathed his last on June 20th, 1987.
Kamal Haasan was the first choice for Crow Man Role but the Versatile Actor choose not to be part of the project. Then, Shankar had approached Arnold Schwarzenegger. Though the 'Terminator' Star responded positively, It didn't work out in the end as Hollywood work differently. Then, LYCA Productions which was planning 'Kaththi' Hindi remake with Akshay Kumar asked Shankar to think about casting him. Everything fell in place the moment Khiladi offered his consent to the project.
Had if he is alive Today, Azhar Ali would have been pained to see how Technology has been ruining the nature. Hats off to Shankar for conveying a good message to the people through '2.O'.
