It is no secret that Rajamouli is the highest-paid director in Tollywood or even in the entire nation. He was paid above 50 crores for 'Bahubali' and he is charging even more for 'RRR'. Keeping this aside, there has been a lot of discussion over the number two spot in Tollywood.
There are many contenders for this spot. Directors like Vinayak and Vaitla are long gone while Boyapati is trying hard to sustain in the race. Top directors like Sukumar and Trivikram are expected to take the spot but Sukumar is inconsistent and delivers one film every two years. Trivikram's image took a severe beating with 'Agnyathavaasi' is still in damage control mode despite the moderate success of 'Aravinda Sametha'.
As per sources, that spot is currently taken by Koratala Siva who delivered four blockbusters one after the other. He is said to be charging 15 crores for his next film with Chiranjeevi under Konidela Production company which is the highest remuneration for any director other than Rajamouli. Koratala struck a fine balance between commercial and message-oriented storytelling and that is the success formula.
