Why Bollywood Is Failing To Read What Audiences Want?
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 July 2022 10:53 AM GMTOne of the big names in the business, Ranbir Kapoor hit the theatres with his recent outing Shamshera. As the film marks his comeback to the films after a big gap, everyone pinned high hopes that the big-ticket film would set the box-office on fire. Sadly, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer started with a not-so-good start.
As one of the low earnings for a big film, Shamshera hardly collected Rs 10 on day one of its theatrical release. On the second day as well, the film received the same response from the fans and audiences.
More than Ranbir Kapoor, the prestigious production house Yash Raj Films suffered a big shock. Despite having the big star as the lead actor and stunning action sequences, the production house could not score a big hit.
The production house failed to read the audiences' minds and attract them to the theatres. Though the makers opted for a commercial film filled with good emotions, Shamshera joined the list of films that ended up as duds at the box office.
Bollywood is unable to score a big hit in recent times. Yash Raj Films banner tasted another big disaster with its earlier film Samrat Prithviraj. Even the star power of Khiladi Akshay Kumar could not save the film from seeing itself as a big disaster in recent times.
Self-made star Kangana Ranaut also could not help the Bollywood industry. Her much-awaited film Dhaakad, which was made on a big budget, also failed at the box office.
Post the pandemic era, Bollywood is struggling to score a big hit. Despite the dry run of the industry at the box office, the south cinema is creating a sensation and the majority of the Pan-India films earned big amounts at the box office. RRR, Pushpa and K.G.F are examples of the impact the south industry left on the Bollywood box office.
In general, the south industry makes films that are high on action. Not just action, the makers add emotions that go with the action. The southern makers often cater to the masses. Sadly, Bollywood is not making such films.
The recent failures in the Bollywood industry showed that, though the industry is making action films, it is failing to read the minds of the audiences.
