Initially, the makers of Allu Arjun and Sukumar's Pushpa had approached Vijay Sethupathi for the antagonist role in the film. Vijay was greatly excited after listening to the script pitched by Sukumar and he readily came on board for the project. However, Vijay had to opt out of the project later owing to a clash of dates. The makers then contemplated several options and after much deliberation, they approached Malayalam superstar Fahadh Faasil for the antagonist role. Much like Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh too was blown away by the script prepared by Sukumar. He was in awe of the theme of the film and also Sukumar's vision. He readily obliged to sign the dotted line. He has already started shooting for the film.

That is the reason why he came on board for the Sukumar directorial. Apparently, Fahadh's character in the Allu Arjun starrer will send chills down the spines of the viewers. His character is named Banwar Singh Shekhawat. The on-screen rivalry between Fahadh and Allu Arjun will fuel the main conflict point in the rustic forest based actioner.
