Why Govt Wants Explanation From Star Couple On Twins?

People are talking more about surrogacy after a star couple announced they were blessed with twins. The couple announced the news the other day on social media. The couple welcoming twins less than five months after marriage triggered a lot of questions and doubts among people.
Lady Superstar Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan tied the knot in June this year and cut to five months, the couple welcomed twins. Many felt that the babies might have been conceived through surrogacy. If this is true there are a few guidelines that have to be followed in India.
Hinting that the couple might land in a big issue, the Tamil Nadu government said that a detailed inquiry would be called into the issue and the Directorate of Medical Services was asked to take care of the investigation into the sensitive matter.
"The surrogacy itself is subjected to a lot of debates. But, the law allows individuals to involve in surrogacy if they are above 21 years and below 36 years of age, with the approval of the family," Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian said speaking to the media.
The Surrogacy law in India says that commercial practice is banned and whoever gets involved in this can be slapped with a fine. Coming to altruistic surrogacy, the couple who wants to have a baby should be legally married. While females should be between 25-50 years, males should be between 26-55.
On top of this, either husband or wife should be declared infertile by the district medical board. The couple should not have kids. They should get orders from the district Magistrate for going for surrogacy. Not just that, the woman who is bearing the child should be given insurance for up to 16 months as a safety measure. If anyone fails to follow this, then they may have to face action under the law.
