Why is the Summer Season the Biggest Season for Telugu Cinema?
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 July 2022 7:34 AM GMTOne thing that remained constant in the Tollywood industry over the years is films targeting key seasons like Sankranthi, Dussehra, and Summer. The three seasons remain the best seasons for the film business and the makers try their best in bringing their films for the seasons to get extra advantage of targeting the box office.
Each season has its own advantage. Both Sankranthi and Dussehra seasons grant holidays for the students for around 12 days and the families prefer going to the theatres. Family films get a big thumbs up during the two seasons.
But the Summer season is the big season for the cinema as far as the business is concerned. As the season spreads for over two long months, it is a long and big season for the Telugu cinema. Many films have proved that the summer season is a big season without any doubt.
The majority of films released during summer ended up as box office hits. The recent summer season has proved the point6 as all the big films released for Summer have set the box office on fire.
The summer Hungama this time was started by none other than Jakkanna Rajamouli. Just like Baahubali, Rajamouli's RRR ended up as one of the highest collecting films ever made in India, and earning critical acclaim on the global stage is an extra benefit of RRR.
After RRR, KGF 2, Acharya, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, and F3 also joined the summer race and tasted big success. Barring Megastar's much-hyped Acharya, all the films were well received by the fans and movie lovers.
Now the Tollywood film industry is all set to prove Summer as the biggest season as not less than four big stars are coming to theatres. Guess what, all the four films are coming up with high expectations.
Big stars Superstar Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Mega Powerstar Ram Charan, and Young Tiger NTR are coming with their respective films.
Ram Charan is coming with his cupping film helmed by Shankar. The film which is being made on a Pan-India scale is expected to be a political thriller along with a strong message. Kiara Advani is playing the leading lady and Dil Raju is bankrolling the high-ticket film.
Superstar Mahesh Babu has joined hands with Trivikram Srinivas and the project is titled SSMB 28, which marks the third collaboration of Mahesh Babu and Trivikram. Pooja Hegde is the leading lady.
First Pan-India star Prabhas is also joining the summer race with his upcoming film Salaar helmed by Prashanth Neel. The film shooting is going on at a brisk pace and the Prabhas starrer is likely to come to the theatres
New Pan-India star NTR is also coming for summer with his highly-anticipated NTR 30. Director Koratala Siva who showed him in a stylish avatar in Janatha Garage is directing the film. However, the makers are yet to pick a leading lady for the film. We have to wait and see how much business the season generates.
