Why Laya Rejected Aravinda Sametha?

Actress Laya has bid goodbye to acting after getting married to an NRI Doctor. She made a comeback with a cameo in 'Amar Akbar Anthony' which also marked acting debut of her Daughter. Fans expected her to do films continuously thereafter but that didn't happen. In fact, This Senior Actress had even turned down a powerful role in 'Aravinda Sametha'.
Trivikram Srinivas approached Laya for playing Jagapathi Babu's Wife in the NTR-starrer. The 'Swayamvaram' Actress hasn't accepted the offer as she felt the role offered to her is that of an aged woman. She mayn't have bothered to play Jagapathi Babu's Wife but definitely have an objection to essay the character of Naveen Chandra's Mother. Although Laya was the first choice to reprise this role, The offer was eventually bagged by Eshwari Rao and she received good appreciation for the doing complete justice.
Critics say, Laya missed a golden opportunity to revive her career with 'Aravinda Sametha'. She would have been floored with Sister and Mother Roles had if that offer was accepted.
Laya, on the other hand, is hopeful of receiving the opportunity to share screen space with Jr NTR and work under the direction of Trivikram once again sometime in future.
