Nandi Awards announced by AP Government for three years garnered severe criticism. Particularly, A lot of people questioned how could Best Movie award be given to 'Legend' for the year 2014.
The explanation given by Nandi Award Jury Member Prasanna Kumar during a news channel debate were unconvincing. According to him, 'Legend' ran successfully for 1170 days, Balayya utters a dialogue against abortions if its a girl and the film also discussed about the social responsibility Politicians should have.
'Legend' is a out-and-out commercial entertainer in Boyapati style. 'Race Gurram' is much bigger success than 'Legend' in 2014. Even in this film there is an undercurrent message - How could a rowdy sheeter/anti-social element enter Politics? What Police could do if they were given full powers? But, Does that mean 'Race Gurram' should get Nandi Award?
May be, AP Government would offer Nandi Award for 'Paisa Vasool' instead of 'Gautamiputra Satakarni' for the year 2017.
