Why Thaman, but Not Devisri Prasad?

Music Director Thaman is riding high with many successful albums in recent days. His recent album 'Race Gurram' is going to celebrate its Platinum disc celebrations soon. His blockbusters in the combination of Prince Mahesh Babu, 'Dookudu' and 'Businessman', made him the top music director of Tollywood at the moment. Nowadays, Thaman is scoring music for 4 out of 5 releases on an average. This is really remarkable. Even though Devi Sri Prasad has been scoring good music, his frequency is less and because of Thaman's frequent releases and frequent hits, nowadays, only Thaman's name is being heard in entire Tollywood.

Observers say that Thaman is a trend setter. Usually, music directors increase their price tag if they get one or two successful albums. This will allow only big banners to reach them, so they get few offers and their album frequency becomes less. But in case of Thaman, even after giving many back to back super hit albums, his remuneration is much less than what other top music directors are charging. This is allowing not just big banners, but even small banners are also able to reach him. If this trend is continued by other music directors, the number of musical hits might increase dramatically in Tollywood.

But critics say that, in order to work simultaneously for many films, Thaman is giving preference to quantity rather than quality. But at the same time they are agreeing that, what Thaman is delivering are good albums which may not be masterpieces, but are good enough to contribute in his films' success. May be Thaman is thinking, it is better to give many good albums than few great albums.
