Why Tollywood Is On A Remake Spree?
By: Tupaki Desk | 19 May 2020 8:11 AM GMTTollywood is on a remake spree and especially Malayalam movie remakes are just sky-roceting in Tollywood. Tollywood's Mega Family production house Konidela Productions has bought the remake rights of 'Driving License', the Malayalam blockbuster. Now the speculations are going on high as Producer Ram Charan wants the film to be made with Power Star Pawan Kalyan. Earlier they have announced 'Lucifer' remake in the direction of Sujith.
'Driving License' is the story of two egoistic people One is a Super Star in Films and the other is a Motor Vehicle Inspector. Things take a turn when the star doesn't find his Driving License and thus needs a new one. The film starred Prithviraj Sukumaran and Sooraj Venjaramoodu in the above mentioned roles respectively.
On the Other side we have the remake of another Malayalam hit film 'Ayappanum Koshiyum' by Sitara Entertainments. The movie is written and directed by Sachy, the writer of Driving License. The film starred Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menen. The action entertainer has looted the Box Office.
The biggest question doing rounds in Tollywood is why all the film makers are now suddenly running back of Malayalam remakes? Do those films have that good content to match the taste of Tollywood movie buffs? History tells that the sensibilities are totally different and all the above films may not work here and the makers should be extra cautious to re-write these films and plan well the story telling. There are a very few instances of Malayam remakes repeating the same magic here in Tollywood.
