Will Karthi Succeed This Weekend Again?

Four films are arriving in theatres this weekend but none of them have a lot of buzz around them. Karthi's 'Sardar' is getting released in a grand scale in both Telugu and Tamil. Akkineni Nagarjuna is releasing the film in AP & Telangana. Directed by PS Mithran, the movie is a spy thriller that involves Karthi playing double roles.
Mithran praises Karthi saying that he is the best actor he worked with till date and is confident that 'Sardar' continues Karthi's success streak. He also added that Karthi shared a lot of ideas that benefitted the film. The director said, "This story takes place in the 1980s as well as in the present day. In 1980, Indian intelligence looked for a soldier to make him a spy. But it wasn't an easy thing to do. Actually, it's an obligation for a spy to know how to act and disguise. So, a stage actor was turned into a spy."
Produced by S Lakshman Kumar under Prince Pictures, this movie features Raashi Khanna and Rajisha Vijayan playing the female leads. Chunky Panday is the villain in this project which has opted for a theatrical release in Telugu and Tamil languages. The rest of the cast includes Laila, Munishkanth, Ashwin, Yog Japi, Nimmy, Balaji Sakthivel, Elavarasu and others. George C Williams is the cinematographer while GV Prakash Kumar composed the music.
