Pawan Kalyan always preferred working with Director who are yet to achieve a Star Status. This strategy worked for him until 'Gopala Gopala' as he limited the pre-release business of his movies to a reasonable amount.
Things went wrong from 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' as huge money is at stake (Rs 85 crore). Pawan Kalyan began eyeing huge revenue in the form of Remuneration. He followed a similar strategy even for 'Katamarayudu'.
However, Working with Directors who doesn't command a good market didn't paid off well on both these occasions. There is a huge advantage for Heroes when they work for Directors such as Rajamouli, Koratala Siva, VV Vinayak and Boyapati Seenu because they enjoy a solid market. Even if their films opened to mixed talk, They could still draw crowds to theaters in big numbers. Directors like Bobby and Dolly lack such an advantage.
It's a worrying thing that two of his upcoming films are going to be with RT Neason and Santosh Srinivas. Either Pawan Kalyan should ensure the pre-release theatrical business doesn't exceed Rs 55 crore to avoid criticism or Rely on Star Directors. Think about it Powerstar!
