New Generation believes in Slow and Steady ...
X
Telugu Cinema is now on the crossroads of a change. Early 2000's saw the emergence of fresh and new directors like Srinu Vaitla, VV Vinayak, SS Rajamouli, Trivikram Srinivas, Puri Jagannath. All these makers have established themselves with constant hits and even if they failed they bounced back to enjoy the name they do today. If you observe except for Rajamouli all them have maintained to make at least one film per year.

Prior Generation to them, Raghavendra Rao, Kodi Ramakrishna, Kondandarami Reddy used to do more than two films in one year through out their prime. In the 90's they have become old with the emergence of RGV but not many directors who made successful films in 90's could hold the fort like Srinu Vaitla, Puri Jagannath and others. After one or two films they fizzled out and today, we are now experiencing the emergence of new wave of filmmakers again with Puri Jagannath and Srinu Vaitla, VV Vinayak, Trivikram becoming the seniors.

Among the young directors, Sudheer Verma, Chandoo Mondeti, Sriram Aditya, Sujith Sign, Tarun Bhascker are the most trusted ones by the makers and the actors too. But they are taking far more time than their seniors. Puri, Srinu Vaitla, Trivikram, VV Vinayak have been making at least one film per year once they have established themselves. Recently, Koratala Siva also joined them as he is regarded as a senior in the Industry too. So, all these senior filmmakers are now making at least one film per year, whereas the younger lot is taking two to three years to come up with a film.

In five years, Sudheer Verma directed only three films, two of them with Nikhil, in four years, Chandoo dircted two and Sujith started his second with Prabhas, Saaho recently. Sriram Aditya recently made his second movie, Samanthakamani and about his next, we have to wait. Tharun Bhascker who made Pelli Choopulu, still did not announce his second film officially. There have been news about his collaborations and talks with various actors but nothing has come out concrete.

Well, with these directors taking time, producers are unable to find trustworthy directors to invest on. Even though very other week we are witnessing a debut director, they are unable to get the name and fame like the ones we have mentioned. With that being a big problem, investors and producers are waiting in the line for actors dates and also director's appointments. Still the directors are taking it Slow and Steady .. In the longer run, Industry might suffer with lack of talented makers and this has become the biggest worry for many in Tollywood these days!
