Teaser: The Bads of Bollywood shakes industry roots

The buzz in Bollywood circles hit a high when the teaser of The Bads of Bollywood dropped. Fans of Shah Rukh Khan were waiting to see if his son Aryan Khan made even a small cameo, but this time the surprise came from behind the camera. Aryan Khan, SRK’s son, is not acting; he is directing. And with just one teaser, he has shown that he can stand tall next to big names like Rohit Shetty and others. The disappointment of not seeing Aryan Khan in a role quickly turned into excitement for Aryan’s bold vision.

The Netflix series has Aryan stepping into the director’s chair for the first time, and the presentation felt grand. At the launch in Mumbai, SRK himself hosted the event, introducing his son’s work to the world. The teaser opens with Shah Rukh’s voiceover, setting the mood for a satirical story about the film industry. The lines hint at how being a hero on screen is very different from being one in real life.

Soon after, we meet the central characters: Lakshya as Aasman Singh, a new actor trying to rise; Manish Chaudhary as a flashy producer Sodawallah; Bobby Deol as the seasoned superstar Ajay Talkvar; and Sahher Bambba as the leading lady. The teaser paints the world of Bollywood with a sharp, satirical edge, pointing at fame, ego and hidden games of power.

The cameos add more spice, with glimpses of Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar bringing instant shock value. The ensemble cast also includes Manoj Pahwa, Gautami Kapoor, Mona Singh and Rajat Bedi. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, The Bads of Bollywood premieres on Netflix on September 18, and from the look of it, Aryan Khan is ready to deliver something raw and daring.
