By: Priya Chowdhary Nuthalapti | 26 April 2026 9:59 AM ISTA fresh controversy has come up involving actress Ashu Reddy from Hyderabad. The City Central Crime Station (CCS) police have registered a case against her and some of her family members. The case is related to an alleged financial cheating of more than ₹9 crore in the name of marriage.
According to the complaint, a young man named Y. V. Dharmendra, who works as a software engineer in London, got to know Ashu Reddy in 2018. She reportedly told him that she had completed her studies in the United States and had come to India to try her luck in films. Over time, their friendship became close, and it later turned into a relationship.
The victim’s family claims that Ashu Reddy promised to marry Dharmendra. Based on this promise, she allegedly asked for money many times, saying she had financial needs. Trusting her, Dharmendra is said to have given large amounts of money over several years.
The complaint also states that with this money, she purchased a car, gold, and other properties. These assets were reportedly registered in her own name. The family further alleged that even though wedding-related rituals were performed and marriage discussions took place, she later refused to go ahead with the marriage.
Between 2018 and 2025, the total amount given is said to be around ₹9.35 crore. This includes cash, nearly 5 kilograms of gold, flats, and vehicles. It is also alleged that her sister took an additional ₹50 lakh. Based on these serious accusations, CCS police have started an investigation into the matter.
This is not the first time Ashu Reddy has been in the news for controversies. Earlier, her name appeared in discussions related to a drugs case call list, though she denied any involvement. Recently, she also made headlines for launching a paid Instagram subscription feature charging ₹399 per month for exclusive content.
