What began as one of Malayalam cinema’s most anticipated releases has transformed into a nationwide success story. Balan: The Boy first drew international attention with its acclaimed screening at the Marché du Film during the Cannes Film Festival, where it reportedly received a standing ovation and widespread appreciation.

Since then, the film has continued its remarkable journey, winning hearts across India with its emotionally rich storytelling, compelling performances and outstanding technical craftsmanship. Audiences have particularly praised the film’s moving narrative, stunning visuals by Shyju Khalid, evocative music by Sushin Shyam and the sensitive direction of Chidambaram.

The film’s popularity quickly spread beyond Kerala, finding enthusiastic support in Telugu and Tamil markets through strong word-of-mouth and endorsements from prominent industry personalities. Even before its release, respected names such as Naga Chaitanya and Priyadarshan expressed admiration for the project, helping generate anticipation among audiences across regions.
