At a time when the teenage love story Little Hearts is making news, another film with a similar theme reached the audience, which happens to be “Beauty”. The movie features Ankit Koya, who appeared in a series of films in recent times, playing supporting roles as well, and Odia actress Neelakhi Patra in the lead. Presented by Maruthi and directed by JSS Vardhan, let’s have a look at how it fared on the silver screen.

Story:

Alekhya (Neelakhi) is a girl from a middle-class family. Her father, Narayana (Naresh), earns a living as a cab driver in Vizag and loves his daughter deeply. He never refuses to fulfill her wishes. While studying intermediate in college, Alekhya falls in love with Arjun (Ankit Koya). When their love story is found out at home, the two decide to elope, and what happens after that forms the heart of the story. Did their plan succeed? What problems did Alekhya face in her journey with Arjun? Did the two finally get married? And how far did Narayana go for his daughter? These are to be seen on the screen.

Story-Analysis:

For years, filmmakers have been crafting teenage love stories that resonate with young audiences and perform well at the box office. The trend began with Teja’s Chitram, and later many films followed. After some time, the craze for this genre slowed down, but in recent years, movies like Baby, Court, and Little Hearts have brought back that interest. Though some are even making fun of these films as “Nibba-Nibbi” stories, audiences are loving them. But one problem remains— most films catering to this genre don’t have a strong or unique point. Without that, such stories don’t stand out. Beauty, however, brings a new element. It shows what happens when teenage attraction is mistaken for love and when the value of parental affection is ignored.

The film highlights the struggles of Alekhya, whose immature decisions frustrate the audience at times. Her character comes across as irritating, but that is intentional because it makes her father’s love and sacrifice more powerful. From showing how he works hard as a cab driver to how he never gives up on her, the story strongly emphasizes a father’s emotional journey. If teenagers lose their way, it is the parents who suffer the most; that’s the message the film offers.

While the first part of the movie feels routine, the pace picks up before the interval, as do some good twists. The second half slows down a bit here and there, but the last thirty minutes make a big impact. The pre-climax has a surprise twist, and the climax is emotional and well-handled. The father’s search for his daughter strikes a chord with both young viewers and their parents, too.

The heroine’s bold behavior in love may not sit well with family audiences, and the drama feels a bit heavy in some portions. Still, the message is strong, and the film connects especially with the youth. Despite its flaws, Beauty manages to leave a mark, making it a worthy one-time watch.

Performances:

The acting in Beauty is solid across the main cast. Odia actress Neelakhi, making her Telugu debut, fits well as a teenage girl who is still immature. Her expressions feel natural, and in some bold scenes, she carries the role with confidence. Ankit Koya, known earlier for character roles, shines as the male lead this time. He brings out the different sides of his character, and his performance in the climax is especially strong. Naresh delivers a standout act as the heroine’s father. He has a unique ability to slip into emotional roles and leave a strong mark. Vasuki, playing the mother, supports well and brings depth to family scenes.

Among the supporting cast, Nithin Prasanna, Muralidhar Goud, and Prasad Behara all give convincing performances that add value to the story. Overall, the cast members play their parts sincerely, with Naresh and Ankit’s work standing out as the highlights.

Technicians:

On the technical side, Beauty is decent. Music director Vijay Bulganin, who earlier gave blockbuster Baby, delivers one memorable song, Kannamma, while the rest are average. His background score, however, lifts the mood in crucial sequences. Cinematographer Sri Sai Kumar captures the visuals well, giving the film a polished look. The production values match the film’s scale and keep things neat. The story, written by RV Subramaniam, carries weight, but the screenplay feels jittery at times. Director JSS Vardhan handles a few crucial scenes effectively, showing his skill. But then, the overall narration feels ordinary and may not fully connect with mature viewers.

Finally: Beauty.. Teen love story for the youth!
