English singer Ed Sheeran is currently in India for his +=÷x 2025 India Tour. During his visit, a video of him performing on a Bengaluru street and getting interrupted by the police went viral on social media. Many believed it was a spontaneous act but Sheeran later clarified that he had obtained prior permission for the performance.


After the interruption, Sheeran addressed the situation on his Instagram stories. He explained that his performance was not random but planned in advance. His message read:

“We had permission to busk, hence us playing in that exact spot. It wasn't just us randomly turning up. All good though. See ya at the show tonight”.

He also shared a post expressing his excitement about performing in Bengaluru for the second night.

What Happened in Bengaluru?

During Sheeran’s street performance, local police intervened, reportedly unaware of his identity. One officer even unplugged his microphone leading to confusion among onlookers. Social media users criticized the police action, calling it an embarrassment, especially after Sheeran confirmed he had followed all legal procedures. Many fans defended him, pointing out that he had done everything correctly.

Sheeran performed in Bengaluru on Saturday and had another concert scheduled for the same city due to high ticket demand. His India tour includes stops in Hyderabad, Pune, Shillong, and Delhi NCR. The Bengaluru concert is the only one where he is performing twice.

Sheeran recently collaborated with Indian singer Armaan Malik for a performance in Hyderabad.
