A post on Facebook, now circulating widely, shows Dhillon admitting to the attack and issuing a direct warning to the comedian. In the message, Dhillon stated that the gang had called Kapil earlier, but when there was no response, they decided to act. The warning further mentioned that if there is no acknowledgment again, the “next action” will take place in Mumbai.
The Facebook post roughly translates to: “We take responsibility for the firing in Surrey. We called him, but he did not respond, so we had to take action. If he still does not respond, our next move will be in Mumbai.” Police in Mumbai are currently examining the authenticity of the post and its source.
The incident took place on Thursday morning, marking the second time in a month that the comedian’s café has been targeted. Kap’s Café, located in Surrey, British Columbia, is run by Kapil Sharma and his wife, Ginni Chatrath. In a video of the attack shared online, at least 25 gunshots can be heard. The earlier attack on July 10 was linked to the Laddi gang, reportedly associated with the banned Khalistani terror group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
In a recent Instagram post, Kapil Sharma and Ginni Chatrath shared a clip of officials visiting the café, where they were seen having a calm meal. The comedian thanked Surrey’s mayor, local police, and officials for their support, stating, “United we stand against violence.”
