Crafting a legacy with the kind of films he makes, director SS Rajamouli continues to amaze us with his ideas, casting, and movies. After the super success of films like Baahubali and RRR, the whole world and cinema lovers are awaiting his next film, which happens to be Superstar Mahesh’s Varanaasi. Here come some interesting updates on this project.

Mahesh Babu is playing the lead role of Rudra in the movie, and his character is introduced through a powerful world-building video that raked up huge buzz. At the same time, the film has Priyanka Chopra, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and other big actors, while Prakash Raj also recently confirmed that he plays a big role. A powerful talk is now popping up that a leading Bollywood actor will also join the casting bandwagon.

Beyond these existing actors, amongst whom Prithviraj is playing the negative role, Rajamouli needs another big villain, and for that role, he’s said to have approached a leading Bollywood hero. If not that hero, a leading Bollywood actor at the moment, like Bobby Deol or Akshaye Khanna, might be roped in as the villain in the film. This is a huge development, considering the fact that Rajamouli presents his villains as powerful and bigger than his heroes. With a global-scale narrative, amazing visual effects, and Rajamouli's range of adventure, the mythological adventure film Varanasi is aiming for a worldwide release in 2027.
